1. The Inter School Debate Competition for the year 2009-10 held  in April 2009 was won by Carmel Convent Sec 9 Chandigarh, India, and for the first time the Uday Singh Memorial Trophy was won by a school other than St Stephen's (Uday's school).

2. This year has not been too good for the activities of the Foundation. Though the grant of $500 has been given to St Stephen's neither has the Memorial Service at the Martyr's Memorial been held due to instructions of Inspector Scools with regard to spread of swine flu in Chandigarh nor have the scholarships been awarded. This will be done in the coming months. However, Uday's parents placed flowers and lit the lamp at the Memorial on Dec 1, 2003, Uday's sixth death anniversary.

3. Another not so good news is that Uday's battalion 1-34AR has been de-activated and amalgamated with 4 CAV. The casing of the colors ceremony and regimental dinner was held in the 3rd week of Sep 2009.

4. Uday's father had come to the US all the way from India to attend the Time of Remembrance Service in Washington DC on Sep 19, 2009. Uday's sister Bani who goes to college in Raleigh, NC had also joined her father, unfortunately the service was postponed.

5. Efforts are on to find out where after de-activation of 1-34AR have the memorials which wer  placed in the Battalion HQ including a memorial to Uday  have been displayed. Uday's father is still continuing to find where exactly Uday's portrait by Anne Cook which was displayed at the Faces of The Fallen exhibit is, without any luck so far . The portraits were being handed over to the families after the exhibit came to a close, which is almost 3 years ago.

6. As the Foundation would like to continue to give a grant for the families and children of serving soldiers, a letter was written to the Commanding General in Fort Riley by Uday's father, however, a reply is still awaited.

7. This year also no grant was given to FRG of C Company 1-34 AR.
